"Data to Knowledge", a one day symposium will bring together community developers and geographic information professionals to discuss data needs for use in place based community projects throughout North Carolina. While there is an abundance of data available from a wide spectrum of sources, it is imperative that it be presented, analyzed, and interpreted to gain knowledge useful to neighborhood residents, community development officials and municipal and county boards. Mapping assets, liabilities and opportunities in selected neighborhoods illustrates, a past history, a present environment, and helps engaged citizens to create more enlightened communities.
